Our energy-efficient design ensures that the temperature naturally stays a few degrees cooler in the Summer or warmer in the Winter. Requiring only one layer of Insulation, our Zomes are thermally superior to traditional buildings.
Thanks to their polar zonohedran geometry, Zomes have only two-thirds of the surface area compared to a traditional ‘box’ home. This enables them to not only have much less of a surface area to insulate but also a much smaller interior volume to keep temperature regulated. The best part is that of the surface area lost, the majority would just be empty space, only serving to raise your heating/cooling costs.
One of the many benefits that you will come to appreciate from our air-tight design is a draft-free living. Far too commonly, air from outside of homes is left to leak inside causing temperatures to constantly fluctuate and energy costs to skyrocket. But thanks to our Zome having air-tight rubber seals, you will have no issues maintaining the interior temperature.
Only requiring one layer of insulation, our walls use wool insulation that works in tandem with our bioceramic shell to provide passive solar heating. Alongside this, our integrated platform creates a thermal mass which provides both passive cooling and heating by absorbing heat during the day and diffusing it at night to make sure you Zome stays at equilibrium.
